Take Action

Make a National Catastrophic Drug Coverage Plan an election issue

When someone is sick, they should be focused on getting better. But for many Canadians coping with a serious illness, the high cost of many lifesaving treatments are resulting in emotional distress and financial ruin.

Canada’s ‘patchwork’ of public and private drug plans has resulted in an inequitable and unjust system where access to and the cost of life saving treatment varies wildly based on your income and where you live.

Federal and provincial governments have already committed to establishing a National Catastrophic Drug Coverage plan to improve access to care Canada-wide, but negotiations on a funding formula have stalled.

For thousands of Canadians, further delays are literally a matter of life and death.

On May 2nd, Canadians will head to the polls to determine the future of our country. Lets ensure that this future includes a Canada in which where you live doesn’t determine if you live.

A National Catastrophic Drug Coverage plan that is fair and accessible for all Canadians is within reach – but only if we work together.

In the days leading up to the election, please take a moment to speak with candidates in your riding and ask them and their party to take action on this issue. You can also follow us on twitter and join us in the conversation with your candidates.
